What kinds of scam calls does the FTC warn about?
Common phone scams include government or business imposters, Social Security and IRS tricks, tech-support scams, grandparent or family-emergency scams, prize and lottery calls, fake debt collection, warranty and auto scams, charity fraud, romance scams, and AI voice impersonation. Scammers also spoof local numbers so the call looks familiar.
How does guardian visibility help?
The account owner is notified if supervised protection is removed, someone attempts to disable protection, or it needs attention.
Are you a phone company?
No. BlockTheCalls is an AI assistant focused on protecting incoming calls. Your number, texts, outbound calls, and 911 stay with your phone and carrier.
What about 911 and outbound calls?
You continue to dial out, including 911, using your normal phone. BlockTheCalls does not provide outbound or emergency calling.
What happens to my data?
We collect only what is needed to provide the service, retain it only as long as necessary or legally required, and then delete it. See our Privacy Policy.
Can I subscribe here?
You can request notification from the signup page. This public site does not collect payment or create a paid subscription.

Does the Do Not Call Registry stop scam calls?
No. The National Do Not Call Registry limits many legal telemarketers. Scammers and many robocalls ignore it. Still register, then add screening for unfamiliar callers.
Can BlockTheCalls stop every spam call?
No screening tool catches every spam call, telemarketer, or scammer. BlockTheCalls aims to give you more context before you answer and keep trusted callers reachable.

Scam call types the FTC warns about
These are the phone scams that show up a lot:
- Imposter calls: fake IRS, Social Security, banks, utilities, or shipping companies.
- Tech-support scams: a “Microsoft/Apple helper” who wants remote access or gift cards.
- Grandparent / family-emergency scams: “your loved one is in trouble; send money now.”
- Prize, lottery, and vacation offers: you “won,” but must pay fees first.
- Fake debt collectors: threats about arrests or lawsuits for a debt you do not owe.
- Warranty and auto scams: pressure to buy extended coverage for a car you already own.
- Charity fraud: urgent donation asks after disasters or for fake causes.
- Romance and trust scams: a new “friend” who later asks for money by phone or app.
